Good trains are orange:
But sometimes they are old streamliners:
Maybe they are both massive and massively impractical:
And occasionally they look like they should be planes:
And sometimes, they are just doing good work:

I got stuck for a train on the way home last night. I had a nerdgasm because it was a Green/White BN loco heading the construct.
I wish the old EMD F locos were still thumping along out there.

I’ve only once had an Amtrak delay. Conversely every time I’m on one, and I go from my seat with tons of legroom, get up, walk to the dining car, order food, and spread out my stuff on a table and watch the scenery I wonder why other forms of public transportation exist.

Lucky. My normal trip is scheduled to be 12 hours and has ranged from 10 to 18 hours. Westbound (leaving Chicago) it’s usually pretty good since it’s just starting, it’s the eastbound (to Chicago) that can be rough.

In the last car they do that, they have some jacks under the train to simulate the ride, and some really cut rate animatronics that are just strange. They have attempted to simulate the record run from Denver to Chicago.
On a plus side my recent visit was the first since they’ve redone the submarine and they did a really good job there.

Interesting.
The sub pen is very well done, extremely impressive when you walk around the corner and see it before you, and the space provides good views from most angles, along with interesting exhibits.
